What does Summer School look like?

Registration will open on APRIL 10th- 2017

Summer School is open from 8:30-2:30 daily in July for incoming grade 10 students, grade 10s, grade 11s, grade 12s and upgrading students.

Summer School 2017 will be held at Okotoks Junior High School in Okotoks.

Students taking courses, other than online CALM 20 and Physical Education 10, are expected to attend daily.

Due to the condensed nature of summer school, it is important to know how much time it will take to complete a course in July.  Students will need to put a considerable amount of time into their studies outside of the school hours.

Teachers will have set times for each subject taught.  This will be the time for classroom instruction, lab work, small group instruction or one-on-one tutoring.  The set times for each subject will be an hour and a half per day.  These times are essential to students’ understanding of material.

We understand that some students require more classroom time to be successful, this is why students may attend class from 8:30-2:30.

To summarize, students are required to attend class a minimum of 2 hours per day. However, dedication to hours of study and work will be crucial outside of the school hours.  If they require more time with their teacher they may stay the whole school day for instruction and guidance.
